That’s what I wanted is that these players when they come to the Labor Cup and when they leave, they feel super inspired and motivated for what’s to come. And they had here a little week at the Labor Cup that really they they learn something about the history of the game and who has again paved the way and just spend time together also and create a team that normally doesn’t get a chance to spend time together or play on the same team.
「私が望んでいたのは、選手たちがレーバーカップに来て、そして去るときに、これからの未来に向けて大きな刺激とモチベーションを感じてくれることです。ここでの1週間が、テニスの歴史や、道を切り開いてきた偉大な先人たちについて何かを学ぶ機会になり、普段は一緒に過ごしたり、同じチームでプレーすることのない選手たちが、時間を共有し、チームとしての絆を築く場になってほしいと思っています。」
ロジャーフェデラーが自身の身を引く際に選んだレーバーカップという舞台。
彼にとって特別な意味を持つこの大会に対して彼が期待することは、出場選手が先人たちからの刺激を受けモチベーションを感じることだと言う。彼の言う意義をかれは当事者として示してくれているのだろう。彼の引退試合を見ていない出場選手はおそらくいないだろうから。（2025/10）
